整備運休中の天元台高原5月28日（木）にリフト線下からカモシカ展望台までお花散策・・しらかばリフト下や、新高湯温泉に下る登山道わきによく見かけます、山地から亜高山帯でも見れます、北海道、本州、四国に分布する日本に固有な落葉低木です。
名前の更紗は、花に更紗染めの模様があることから名づけられたそうですサラサドウダン,ツツジ科。サラサドウダンの漢字表記は、花の様子を夜空に輝く満天の星に例えられたことから「更紗満天星」となっています。花言葉が「明るい未来」・・サラサドウダンの明るい花の色が由来となっています。
